SustainSahel

Synergistic use and protection of natural resources for rural livelihoods through systematic integration of crops, shrubs and livestock in the Sahel

Minerva is the communications and dissemination partner for the five-year EU funded project – SustainSahel.  The overall goal of the SustainSahel project is to promote practices which enhance soil quality and yields, build resilience towards climate change, and contribute to food security and better livelihoods. The project’s approach is embedded within the themes of agroecology, organic agriculture and elements of conservation agriculture.

Working in partnership with farmer organisations and advisory services together with farming communities, SustainSahel will build on existing knowledge and related projects to establish seven farm study sites in Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Mali to validate existing and enable novel practices to emerge.

SustainSahel  has 18  partners from 10 countries, representing the European and African continents and is coordinated by Dr Harun Cicek from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) in Switzerland.

Minerva leads on online communications via media and social media, dissemination to end users, agricultural development agencies and donors and provides support and advice to all partners on communications matters.  Minerva also led on the design and branding of the project’s logo and communications materials.
