Minerva was founded in 2010 by Director, Rhonda Smith.  To celebrate our milestone birthday, we have been looking back at the work we have delivered over the decade, the inspiring projects and clients we’ve worked with, plus our personal and professional successes.

Landmarks & Highlights

Establishing and running your own business requires courage, persistence, and of course long hours – but all of that is balanced by the pride and contentment that comes with building a team and delivering great work that is appreciated by clients, teams, and projects – whilst ensuring there are enough resources to reward the team.

The 10 years of running Minerva has provided many positive highs, working with brilliant people and ideas, addressing challenges, and taking issues up agendas driving debate and discussion. The team have worked with 36 clients and projects, managed attendance at 36 international conferences, run 100 face to face and online capacity development workshops, designed and delivered over 50 strategic plans winning proposals for funded projects in mainland Europe and at home.

From malnutrition in hospital, care, and community to sustainable agriculture in the Sahel in Africa; from dementia drugs and social  care to beef farming across Europe; from novel medical solutions for arthritis to driving uptake of bio-based products; from meditation and mindfulness for healthy ageing to developing collaborations for charities; from online training on topics from strategy to social media, and to changing policy to enable the sustainable use of insect protein into animal feed – these are all in a day’s work at Minerva!

Whilst leading a talented and experienced team, one of the greatest sources of satisfaction has been the ability to provide opportunities to not only school leavers and recent graduates, but also to those seeking to change direction or develop skills, by providing experiences working with Minerva. During our decade of development, ten young people have given the company their enthusiasm, views, and ideas in exchange for responsibilities and multi-dimensional experiences. Some have stayed, others have secured jobs in sectors of their choice, citing their Minerva time as instrumental in securing that first step on their chosen career ladder.

What next for Minerva? Having built a significant reputation across Europe, the likely outcome of our exit from the EU  is that our opportunities to participate in funded projects will be curtailed, although not eliminated entirely as we partner with a German-based group. Our reputation as a training organisation, both online and face to face, is in the ascendancy as we build our portfolio of courses and workshops across strategic and complementary skills for clients, consortia, research organisations and projects, and networks.  Creative communications plans and collateral, digital and traditional PR and marketing assignments, reputation and crisis communications practice for clients and charities are winning business for us here and abroad.

Minerva is here to stay – we are sustainable and constantly improve our sustainability credentials, whilst increasing awareness of responsibilities and good practice among communities and organisations.  I invite you to continue to follow our progress – and contribute to it where you can.

Minerva is ready to work with you.
